Teaching

"I am always doing what I cannot do yet. In order to learn how to do it." - Vincent Van Gough

There's nothing I like better than learning a new skill.  It always fills me with inspiration and gives me a warm feeling inside.

So I was delighted when I stumbled upon Skillshare.com. It's a website dedicated to learning, with squillions of lessons on every subject under the sun, and they're all broken down into bitesize chunks.

After learning all about loose florals, calligraphy, adobe photoshop and various other things, I decided to share some of my skills on the platform.

You can find links to my classes below, but there are numerous other classes also; All the links below will allow you to try Skillshare for free for 2 months.

Simple Illumination

Learn a simple and easy technique to add gold leaf to your artwork.

It requires very few specialist tools and materials and the effects are stunning. You can follow along with the template provided, or create something of your own.

Either way, you should end up feeling confident to use this technique in your own artwork.

Also known as sunprints and blueprints, cyanotypes are an early form of photography.

Without using expensive tools and equipment, you can harness the power of the sun to create beautiful, ethereal blue and white prints.

Use nature finds, found objects or favourite photos.

Watercolour Cut Outs

Learn how to make these pretty loose floral, watercolour cut outs.

They make lovely cards or works of art in their own right.

The watercolour elements come to life when they're cut out and placed into a simple line drawing. The layering makes them look like a real bouquet.

Artwork mockups are great for quickly and cheaply showing off your work. There's no need to have each design printed, framed and set up for a photoshoot.

Learn how to do this quickly and easily on the ipad.

Forager's Silver Clay

Learn to make beautiful pieces of jewellery from nature finds.

Join me on a trip down the Somerset lanes, where I forage for interesting shapes and textures to use in the class.

This is a beginners class, you don't need prior experience. It doesn't require lots of expensive silversmithing tools, just a few essential and a little patience.

Silver clay is like magic. It's a bit like potters clay, but you can shape it and fire it with a blow torch or in a kiln and it will leave you with pure silver.

In this class I take you through the processes needed to create a simple, textured pendant in Silver Clay.

You'll need very few tools and no prior experience.

This is a beginners class for anyone who wants to learn the technique of building up layers of watercolour to produce a realistic painting.

I take you step by step through the process to create this realistic pumpkin painting. It's not as hard as it looks!

The pumpkin's a fun and satisfying subject to paint. Once you've learnt the technique you can apply it painting absolutely anything.
