Returns, Exchanges & Refunds

Jewellery & Artwork:

I hope that you are delighted with your Theodora Gould purchase.  If for any reason you are not and would like to return or exchange an item, please contact me via email or telephone.

I will accept returns within 14 days of your purchase.

This does not apply to bespoke or personalised items (rings and bangles/bracelets are classed as bespoke as they are made to order according to the size required, please see the re-sizing section below) unless the item is faulty.

Replacements are at my own discretion and will incur any extra postage costs.

As each piece is hand made, there may be very slight variations from the picture shown on the website.

If returning an item, please send it via Special Delivery. Jewellery is not insured if sent via other Royal Mail services.  Items must be returned in perfect condition in their original packaging.  I do not refund return postage costs unless the item is faulty.

If you can't find the answer to your question below, or don't want to read through it all, please feel free to CONTACT ME and I'll come back to you asap.

Jewellery & Artwork:

I maintain a small amount of stock for my most popular pieces, un-mounted prints and greeting cards and will endeavor to send orders for these within 5 days.

Hand made, personalised pieces of jewellery and mounted prints may take longer, although I will do my best to get them to you within a reasonable time frame.

There may be a delay at busy times of the year or if pieces are out of stock.

If a piece of jewellery requires hallmarking it can lengthen the dispatch time (it usually takes about a week), but I will let you know if this is the case.

I will always contact you to let know if there is going to be a delay.  If you need a piece quickly, please let me know and I will do my best to get it to you as soon as   possible.

Delivery is free within the United Kingdom and £10 for overseas postage.  I ship worldwide.

Items are sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery, which usually arrives next day within the United Kingdom but may be delayed at busier times of the year.

Delivery is free within the UK. For un mounted prints and greeting cards the overseas shipping cost is £10, mounted prints are £35 via a courier service (I will require a phone number for these deliveries).

Jewellery & Artwork:

Please be aware that some countries charge customs and imports duties. Unfortunately I cannot advise on these prices as customs policies and import duties vary widely from country to country. Please seek further advise from your local customs office before placing an order.

Packaging may vary slightly depending what is in stock.

Your jewellery will come sitting on a black cushion, wrapped in black tissue paper within in a branded box with a small red wax seal on top.

This will be in a branded bag with black rope handles and another wax seal.

If applicable, your piece will come with a complimentary silver polishing cloth and a little note with any extra care details.

This is all wrapped in a protective layer of bubble wrap (please save and re use this if possible), then wrapped in brown paper.

Jewellery & Artwork:

As my creations are often given as gift, I do not put any obvious branding on the outer packaging, but I am required to put my name and a return address.  This may give away gifts, so please consider your delivery address when ordering. You can always contact me via email (not paypal please) if you would like it sent to a different address.

Hallmarking - Jewellery Only

A hallmark is a series of stamps on precious metal, it is a guarantee of purity and quality.  Pieces are sent to one of the UK Assay Offices, where the purity of the metal is tested and the relevant stamps applied.  These usually consist of a makers mark, a number indicating the type of metal, the assay offices mark and a date letter (not compulsory). Certain pieces are exempt from hallmarking depending on their weight.

My pieces are sent to the Birmingham Assay Office.  To find out more about hallmarking click here.

Gold Plating - Jewellery Only

Gold plating is a method of depositing a thin layer of gold onto another metal, usually silver or copper.

Vermeil is a form of gold plating, to qualify as Vermeil (pronounced 'vehr-MAY') it must consist of a base of silver 925 or higher with a covering of gold (10 carat gold or above) and be least 2.5 microns thick.

Please be aware that gold plating will wear over time, however I am happy to re-plate for free if you are unhappy with the amount of wear within the first year.

Sizing for Rings

Different countries use different ring sizing scales.  In the UK we use a letter system.  If you're unsure, there is a very useful link HERE, or just send me a message and ask. CONTACT ME.

Rings are made to order according to the size required which means they cannot be returned for a refund unless they are faulty.

Sizing for Bangles

Bangles (a full circle with no opening):
You can measure the size of an existing bangle which you know to fit, or you can use a soft measuring tape to measure the size of your hand.  Remember that a bangle has to fit over the hand, so a wrist measurement is not relevant.
Lay your hand flat, bring your thumb and little finger together under your hand, now use a soft measuring tape and wrap it around it your hand.  Over the knuckles and thumb (the widest part of the hand) and read the measurement where the tape overlaps.

Bracelets (with an opening):
Use a soft measuring tape and wrap it around your wrist, on the side of your wrist knuckle closest to you elbow.
Read the measurement where the tape overlaps.

Re-Sizing For Rings and Bangles/Bracelets

If you order the wrong size, I may be able to re-size it (depending on the design) but this will be subject to a £40 re-sizing fee.  Replacements are at my own discretion, and will incur any extra postage costs.

Jewellery Repairs

Wear and tear is inevitable on pieces which are worn regularly. Repairs are at my own discretion and prices depend on the amount of work needed. Pease contact me if something needs attention and we'll work it out.

Caring for your Jewellery

I recommend that you remove your jewellery before showering, bathing, swimming or going to bed.  Keep it away from harsh chemicals and do not spray it with perfume.  Wherever possible store it carefully in a dry container.

Some of the pieces have special care instructions, but I will put a note in with the order if this is the case.

Where relevant, items are sent with a silver polishing cloth but this should not be used on gold plating.

Please be aware that gold plating will wear over time, however if you should have a problem within a year, I will re-plate it free of charge.

If you have further quesions about the care of your jewellery, please contact me.

Caring for your Artwork

Please keep orginal watercolour paintings out of direct sunlight and humid conditions.  Although I use the best quality pigments, they will fade if exposed to bright sunlight for a long period of time.

Fine art prints will be more resiliant, but it's also a good idea to keep them out of direct sunlight.
