Digital Art & Printing

Ipad & Apple Pencil - These are invaluable tools.  I do most of my draft work on my ipad, and often create patterns using it.  The apple pencil is a must have tool if you want to create digitally on your ipad.  Any ipad that is pressure sensitive and compatable with the apple pencil will do.  I have an ipad pro which has the advantage of being able to have two pages open at one time, and it has a big screen, but it's not essential.

Procreate - Procreate is a drawing app, it's only available on Apple products. It's my go to for digital art. There are numerous online lessons to teach you. Free ones can be found on YouTube but you have to sift through a bit to find what you want.  I would recommend Skillshare classes for a more in-depth, overall undertsanding of the app.

Adobe Photoshop & Adobe Lightroom - All of my prints are prepared in photoshop, I also use it for making patterns and image mockups.  It costs just about £15/month, which gives me access to adobe lightroom too, which I use to edit photos frequently. The subscription also gives you access to adobe portfolio, which is very handy if you want a website.

Printer - This one is a bit of minefield, and took me some time to work out properly. I now have a printer which I adore (I thank it every time I use it). To make long lasting prints, you need a professional printer which will use archival inks. After much research, this is what I now have.

Printer Paper - To make your prints last, the paper is as important as the ink.  After much testing, this paper came out top for me.

Mount Board Cutter - This is a brilliant piece of kit and has saved me a fortune in trips to the local gallery to get specially cut mount boards. I now do them all myself.

White Mount Board - This is the mount board that I mainly use.
